Nepalgunj / A three-member delegation from the Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon departed for Malaysia on Wednesday.

The team is traveling to participate in the SCORE Marathon, a World Athletics Label Road Race, scheduled to take place on July 18–19 in Putrajaya, near Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur.

The delegation comprises Gagan Thapa, Suraj Bikram Ale, and Nirmal Lamsal. Nirmal Lamsal will compete in the 42.195 km full marathon. He previously secured a place among the top ten finishers in the 11th Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon.

More than 50,000 runners are expected to participate in the SCORE Marathon, making it one of the largest marathon events in Malaysia. Gagan Thapa and Suraj Bikram Ale will observe the event’s large-scale marathon management and organizational practices while also taking part in the 5 km race.
The SCORE Marathon is an official partner marathon of the Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon. To create international opportunities for talented athletes, officials, and volunteers, the Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon has established partnerships with several international marathon events, including Malaysia’s SCORE Marathon and Thailand’s Bangsaen Marathon Series.

The Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon was recently honored with the AIMS Social Award by World Running in recognition of its outstanding social impact and contributions to the running community.
