
Hospitality is the art of gracious service. Nita G.C. Malla is a dedicated, versatile, and skilled hospitality professional whose career reflects her commitment, adaptability, and leadership in both national and international hospitality sectors. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from IST College in January 2015, laying a strong foundation for her professional journey.
Currently, she is serving as the Head of Human Resources and Learning & Development at Utpala Café, located in Boudha, Kathmandu.( Pure – Vegetarian ) In this role, she plays a significant part in building organizational culture and fostering staff development.
During her international experience, Nita worked as a Welcome Ambassador at the Phoenix Island Resort in Sanya, China, and was honored as the Best Front Office Manager at Howard Johnson Dream Sea Resort in Weihai, China. Upon returning to Nepal, she made notable contributions as Operations Manager at The Village Café in Jhamsikhel. She also served as a Barista Trainer at Utpala Academy of Hospitality Management.
In addition to her managerial roles, Nita is actively involved in educating future hospitality professionals. She currently works as a part-time instructor at Madan Ashrit Memorial Polytechnic Institute, Gothatar (under CTEVT’s Diploma in Hotel Management program).
Beyond the hospitality sector, Nita is also a martial artist holding a One Dan (1st-degree black belt) in Karate. She has conducted karate grading and training programs at various monasteries in Nepal, promoting discipline and social service.
Nita aspires to become a trans formative force in Nepal’s hospitality industry — one that not only raises industry standards but also makes a positive impact on society. She attributes her success to the inspiring environment at IST College, which she considers the foundation of her personal and professional growth. With the guidance of visionary mentors and a commitment to excellence, Nita continues to be a source of inspiration through her gratitude, ambition, and dedication.
Nita G.C.’s husband is an experienced hotelier with extensive international experience in the hospitality sector. He left Nepal in 2001 at the age of 19, during the peak of the conflict between the Government of Nepal and Maoist insurgents. Over the next decade, he worked in prestigious five-star hotels in countries like Dubai and Qatar, building a strong foundation in the hospitality field.
After gaining hands-on experience, he formally pursued hotel management studies in Bangalore, India, at the undergraduate level. During his academic journey, he completed an internship at the Marriott Hotel in Malaysia. He later obtained a Master’s degree in Travel and Tourism from Delhi.
After completing his education, he worked as a General Manager in various hotels and restaurants. However, due to a lack of family time and structural limitations in Nepal’s hospitality sector, he transitioned into the academic field. He served as the Principal of a hospitality college in Nepalgunj and is currently working as the Hotel Management Coordinator at Madan Ashrit Memorial Polytechnic Institute.
With his strong professional network and deep industry knowledge, he has significantly contributed to the development of Nepal’s tourism and hospitality industry. He also served as the International Coordinator of the Nepal Gastronomy Tourism Association, leading initiatives to incorporate local and traditional dishes into five-star menus and giving them international recognition. In recent years, he has focused on policymaker and long-term improvements in Nepal’s tourism and service sectors.
