Gajendra Malla / Since Monday, Bhadra 23rd, 2082 (8th September 2025), Nepal has witnessed one of the most terrifying and heartbreaking episodes in recent history. Gen-Z activists took to the streets, demanding a government free from corruption—a movement driven by pure intent, hope, and the vision of a better Nepal.
Over two days of intense protests and violence, thirty young lives were tragically lost, and more than 1,000 people were injured. Many historical sites, government offices, and infrastructure were damaged, leaving scars on the nation’s heritage and collective memory. Amid this chaos, over 13,000 inmates escaped from prisons, further escalating the crisis.
For the ordinary Nepali, life is already a struggle. Many work day and night to make ends meet, and countless young people leave the country in search of better opportunities abroad. Yet, despite these challenges, the youth of Gen-Z rose fearlessly, standing against corruption and demanding accountability. Their agenda was clear: a Nepal governed with integrity, free from exploitation by those born into privilege and political lineage.
However, the protests, meant to be peaceful, were hijacked by opportunists seeking personal gain. Fires were set, looting occurred, and violence spiraled beyond the control of the original movement. While Gen-Z had hoped to bring about positive change, the country instead suffered a heavy price. The loss of young lives, destruction of heritage, and political uncertainty cast a dark shadow over the nation.
As the government steps down and Nepal faces the question of who will lead the interim administration, the nation is left in a state of uncertainty. Gen-Z is searching for leaders who can genuinely understand their vision and guide the country toward a corruption-free future. Behind the chaos, many wonder who orchestrated the violence and manipulation, leaving the country desperate for a ray of light.
As Dashain—the biggest festival in Nepal—approaches, the nation finds itself in turmoil rather than celebration. Yet, amidst fear and confusion, there is also hope. Hope lies in the courage of the young activists, their unwavering fight for justice, and the belief that Nepal can rise stronger from this tragedy.
To the brave souls of Gen-Z who sacrificed their lives for a better future: your courage will not be forgotten. Your vision inspires us all to continue striving for a Nepal where justice, integrity, and equality prevail. The country mourns, yet it also salutes you with deep respect and gratitude.
