
Nepalgunj / Veteran artist Shyamanand Singh Thakuri’s newly published book Sangeet Swar Sargam which provides fundamental knowledge of music, was officially launched in a special ceremony organized in Nepalgunj on Saturday.
The event, hosted by Asal Shasan Media featured the formal unveiling of the book by seven children, including Khushi Shahi, Onir Kaphle, Saman Bhandari, and Samriddhi Bhandari. Their involvement symbolized the connection between generations and the importance of music education from an early age.
The program was conducted by Namaskar Shah head of Asal Shasan Media. As a part of the ceremony, Shyamanand Singh was honored with a Civic Felicitation (Nagarik Abhinandan) in recognition of his lifelong contribution to the field of Nepali music Art and culture.
Chief guest Dr. Dhawal Shumsher Rana, Member of the Federal Parliament, and Ambika Kafle, Member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly jointly presented a letter of honor to Singh on behalf of Asal Shasan Media. Numerous other organizations—including Patanjali Yoga Committee Banke chairman Harpal singh Neel Sagar Ashram, Sarita Khanal and Janamat Ardha Saptahik , Sanshkar School Krishna Pandey also presented certificates of appreciation to Singh.
Speaking on the occasion Hement Raj Kaphale publication coordinator shared insights into the purpose and relevance of the book, while Birendra Yadav Chair of Saraswati Sangeetalaya, offered a tribute to Singh’s inspiring musical journey.
In a symbolic and eco-conscious gesture during his birthday celebration Shyamanand Singh chose to cut a watermelon instead of a traditional cake promoting healthy and sustainable choices. Further highlighting the green message, environmentalist Green Hement distributed 50 moringa saplings to attendees,aligning the occasion with themes of life, growth, and environmental awareness.
Addressing the gathering Dr. Dhawal Shumsher Rana praised Singh as a “multi-talented personality” whose contributions through music and art deserve national recognition. Similarly, Provincial Assembly Member Ambika Kafle committed to taking steps toward the establishment of an Art Center in Singh’s honor.
The event was chaired by Dila Shah a member of the Asal Shasan Media Management Committee, and was attended by over 100 intellectuals cultural figures, literary figure , artists, journalist and professionals from various fields.
The program not only celebrated a book launch and a birthday but also sent a powerful message of cultural pride, environmental stewardship, and the enduring value of music in shaping a harmonious society.
