Nepalgunj / Under the “One Global Mile” campaign, the Kohalpur Mile race is set to take place in Nepal on July 11.
Organized annually on July 11, this global initiative aims to promote running culture worldwide. With the slogan “One Mile, One Day, One World,” the event will be held simultaneously in more than a dozen countries this year, featuring a one-mile (1.609 km) race.
Race Director Chandrabahadur Gurung informed that Nepal will host the Kohalpur Mile as part of this global event. The approximately 1.5-kilometer road race is expected to be accessible and suitable for participants of all age groups.
The event will be organized by Race Nepal and managed by the Nepalgunj Marathon Team. The “One Global Mile” campaign evolved from the Hudson Mile in New York, USA. It has been officially promoted by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), a global umbrella organization for running events.
According to the organizers, Hudson Mile co-founder and Run Bangla CEO John Boka, along with AIMS ambassador and founder of the Dhara Nepalgunj Marathon TS Thakuri, have played a significant role in expanding the campaign globally.
The Kohalpur Mile will also be part of the Nepalgunj Marathon Series, which has previously included events such as the Nepalgunj 10 Music Night Run, Kathmandu 25K Heritage Race, Karnali Half Marathon, Gaughat Green Run, and Rapti Sonari Nature Run. AIMS ambassador TS Thakuri stated that affiliation with AIMS is mandatory for participation in the One Global Mile.
